For answering this question you need to base your analyses on regionally differentiated market potential data. This is either statistical data or the output of calculations that are based on statistical figures. Thus it qualitatively describes the market and its structures taking various criteria into account.

Where the market potential data derives from is diverse. Sources are statistical offices, economic institutions, market research institutes etc. Depending on the geographical precision of the available market data, it is either statistically aggregated or disaggregated. The former process means that the data is aggregated on a coarser level, i.e. the data records are summarized forming totals for larger spatial entities. The latter means the data is broken down to a finer spatial level on the basis of special methodological procedures.

The listed data is available for the German five-digit zip code areas and communes, the so-called Gemeinden. Of course, similar data is available for postal and administrative structures for most of the European states.
